CAMP: The Songbird Sessions
A day of color, imagery, and creative expression.
Date: May 23, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Cost: $155 per participant
CAMP: The Songbird Sessions is a full-day creative experience designed for exploration, experimentation, and connection. Inspired by the colors, movement, and imagery found in songbirds, this session invites participants to work across multiple mediums while following their own creative instincts.
Throughout the day, participants will explore three creative techniques: rubber stamp carving, watercolor, and mixed media composition. These approaches allow you to experiment with color, develop imagery, and build layered pieces inspired by feathers, flight, and the natural world.
During the watercolor portion of the session, we will cover basic color theory, helping participants understand how colors interact, blend, and create harmony within a piece. This foundation will guide your work as you move between watercolor, stamp carving, and mixed media exploration.
Participants may carve stamps inspired by bird silhouettes, feather forms, or natural elements, experiment with watercolor washes and expressive brushwork, and incorporate their prints and painted papers into layered mixed media pieces such as artist trading cards, greeting cards or small compositions. The focus is on exploration and creative discovery rather than producing a single finished project.
CAMP is intentionally process-focused. Nothing has to be finished, and there is no single “right” outcome. You are encouraged to experiment, combine techniques, and follow what feels most interesting to you. Guidance and instruction will be available throughout the day for anyone who would like support developing ideas or finishing a piece.
CAMP runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and includes a break for lunch. Lunch will be on your own, and there are multiple dining options available here at Drayton Mills Marketplace.
All materials and instruction are included. Each participant will receive a CAMP pack upon arrival with tools and materials used during the session, along with a few items you can take home to continue exploring your creativity.
CAMP sessions are intentionally small to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where participants can explore creativity, meet new people, and spend a full day making.
No experience is required. Curiosity is encouraged.
