Thursday Morning Makers Club

Thursday Morning Makers Club

Join us at Reinvintage Warehouse for our Thursday Morning Makers Club! Starting in October we will have a Mixed Media Art Session from 10am - 12pm every Thursday Morning. Each Session will have a focus listed, but if you prefer to work on your own substrates, just bring them with you!

We’re going to kick things off with a focus on Altered Books and Papercrafting. This is perfect for those who enjoy - or think they would enjoy - junk journaling, card making, and other mixed media projects.

Altered Book Sessions will consist of a plethora of papers, inks, stamps, paint and more for working in your own altered book or junk journal project. There will be guidance for working on individual spreads, coverings, and extra pointers for ensuring your book works for you the way you want it to! Consider this a “free art” session where you get to do whatever you want with the buffet of materials provided. (October 1, 15 & 29)

Mixed Media Tin & Quote Cards - This week will center around using the mixed media methods outside of your altered book. We’ll focus on creating Quote cards and mini art pieces to go in the mixed media tins we will create. These are fun to use in future art spreads, as card inserts or gift tags, or simply a treasure to hold onto or pass along. (October 8)

Paper Pockets and Tags - During this session we will focus on tags and pockets that you can use in your journals/books or as part of your gift wrap to tuck away little extra surprises. (October 22)

Each Session is $25 if you register individually or you can sign up for the entire month for just $100. We can’t wait to create with you!

Plein Air Painting with Renee Smith

We’ve added a special Bonus Session to the Artisan MADE Weekend!

Begin the Artisan MADE weekend outdoors with featured artist Renee Smith for a special Plein Air Painting session.

During this two-hour workshop, Renee will guide participants through her expressive, impressionistic approach to painting while working from the landscape and surroundings of Drayton Mills. Participants will explore ways to observe color, light, shape, and movement, then translate what they see into a painting that feels loose, personal, and full of life.

Rather than focusing on creating a perfect representation of the landscape, Renee will encourage participants to interpret the scene through their own perspective while sharing techniques for simplifying what they see, choosing a composition, building layers of color, and capturing the feeling of a place.

This bonus session is a wonderful way to begin the Artisan MADE weekend, creating outdoors, slowing down enough to notice your surroundings, and exploring how your own artistic perspective influences what makes its way onto the canvas.

All materials and instruction are included. No previous plein air painting experience is required.

Date: October 2nd, 2026
Time: 9:00am to 11:00am
Instructor: Renee Smith
Cost: $128 per person
Artisan MADE Full Access Ticket Holders: $75

CAMP: The Songbird Sessions

A day of color, imagery, and creative expression.

Date: May 23, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Cost: $155 per participant

CAMP: The Songbird Sessions is a full-day creative experience designed for exploration, experimentation, and connection. Inspired by the colors, movement, and imagery found in songbirds, this session invites participants to work across multiple mediums while following their own creative instincts.

Throughout the day, participants will explore three creative techniques: rubber stamp carving, watercolor, and mixed media composition. These approaches allow you to experiment with color, develop imagery, and build layered pieces inspired by feathers, flight, and the natural world.

During the watercolor portion of the session, we will cover basic color theory, helping participants understand how colors interact, blend, and create harmony within a piece. This foundation will guide your work as you move between watercolor, stamp carving, and mixed media exploration.

Participants may carve stamps inspired by bird silhouettes, feather forms, or natural elements, experiment with watercolor washes and expressive brushwork, and incorporate their prints and painted papers into layered mixed media pieces such as artist trading cards, greeting cards or small compositions. The focus is on exploration and creative discovery rather than producing a single finished project.

CAMP is intentionally process-focused. Nothing has to be finished, and there is no single “right” outcome. You are encouraged to experiment, combine techniques, and follow what feels most interesting to you. Guidance and instruction will be available throughout the day for anyone who would like support developing ideas or finishing a piece.

CAMP runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and includes a break for lunch. Lunch will be on your own, and there are multiple dining options available here at Drayton Mills Marketplace.

All materials and instruction are included. Each participant will receive a CAMP pack upon arrival with tools and materials used during the session, along with a few items you can take home to continue exploring your creativity.

CAMP sessions are intentionally small to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where participants can explore creativity, meet new people, and spend a full day making.

No experience is required. Curiosity is encouraged.

There are stairs to our Classroom Space
