The Bunny Trail | Martha Horton
After an early retirement from a career devoted to education—including teaching first grade, supervising student teachers at Converse, and caring for her mother—Martha Horton found herself returning to a lifelong love of sewing and handmade crafts. What began with creating Country Bunnies soon grew into a small home-based business. With a sewing machine set up in a guest bedroom and supplies gathered around her, Martha began making pieces that quickly found an appreciative audience.
As her five young great-nieces began collecting American Girl dolls, Martha started sewing clothing for them and discovered a new creative path that would become the heart of her work. Over time, her hobby blossomed into something much bigger. Martha and her husband Mike eventually built a small shop in their backyard that included both a sewing room and a display space, allowing customers to visit and browse her handmade creations. Her doll clothing became especially popular at beloved local events such as Holiday Fair, Santa’s Shoppe at The Day School, and other seasonal markets.
Today, Martha’s primary focus remains on creating beautifully crafted doll clothing, though her collection also includes cloth books, handmade bunnies, and classic cloth dolls such as Raggedy Ann and Andy. Each piece reflects her love for traditional handmade toys and textiles that spark imagination and comfort. Since joining Reinvintage Warehouse in 2024, Martha and Mike have been grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing her work with the community.
At the heart of The Bunny Trail is a simple and joyful mission: to make children happy. Few things warm Martha’s heart more than seeing a child’s face light up while choosing something special for their doll or discovering a new handmade friend to take home.
