Cat Judice, Textile Designer
This chair showcases one of textile designer Cat Judice’s earliest prints, Secret Garden. Digitally printed on linen at a mill in Pennsylvania, Secret Garden is a love letter to growing up in the rural south. An array of flora and fauna are shown in a playful, bold color palette meant to bring a dose of joy to the viewer. Cat chose to refinish the frame of the chair in a coordinating bright blue, to further emphasize the playful nature of the print.
Cat studied fashion at the Rhode Island School of Design and textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY). Born in Louisiana and raised in South Carolina, she spent her childhood developing a love of tradition, and also of nature, thanks to the hidden creatures she discovered in her own backyard as a kid. With an admitted tendency towards excess, Cat’s work unites intricate, mathematical ornamentation and pattern with the organic vitality of the natural world. She works and lives in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with her husband and three children.
