Kira Van Deusen, Artist

I am an artist, flowers are my muse and my love language. I can’t grow them to save my life, so I typically paint them. Flowers remind me of all that hope God packed into a little seed or bulb. They are a promise of things getting better, growing, living, thriving.  Alive.

I redesigned this chair in honor of three special people who are dealing with cancer:

My friend Brenda, who is indebted to a fall that split her knee cap and in the process of mending that they found a mass in her chest and it was caught it in time for her to heal fully.

My niece Sarah, who was diagnosed with stage four leukemia and after long bouts with chemo was given a clean bill of health.

And my cousin Larissa, mom of three boys,  who is struggling against the disease valiantly and although she has lost a few rounds she is still in the ring giving it her valiant effort

I think the most important thing is to know no one is an island, you are not alone. So many of us have been touched by cancer, reach out and you’ll be surprised by the Hope we give to each other.
