Vintage Dishware, Reimagined Fountain…

Brought to you by: Judey Blue Designs (Stacy & Mike Arena)

We like to help out when we can so when we heard about this charity fundraiser, we were all in. Between Stacy’s natural tendencies to beautify anything imaginable and my engineering background, this would be a piece of cake… until we saw this sad little bistro chair. It had a “pleather” seat and the only redeeming quality was the base was made of real plywood.

Our inspiration came from the challenge of turning this chair I wouldn’t have picked up from someone’s curb into something original and worthy of your bid in an auction.

We were in the process of creating a secret enchanted garden behind our garage complete with a homemade water feature. And while we haven’t finished it yet, we thought turning this ordinary chair into an extraordinary homemade water feature would be one of a kind. Plus, water signifies life & renewal, so it seemed to be a great fit for this project.

The dishes come from Stacy’s business – Judey Blue Designs. She creates jewelry out of vintage china & dishware. Without watching a YouTube video, I went to Lowe’s and got a bunch of pipe fittings and a small pump. How hard can it really be? After a few setbacks, I had created a water feature. Stacy wasn’t satisfied with the plain black chair, so we went to Hobby Lobby and found lots of inspiration. She decoupaged the chair with a tissue that grabbed her, and we finished up with burlap, green turf and wood beads. The ladybug and bee were happy afterthoughts.

We hope you like it and more importantly, we hope you’ll bid big ~ after all it’s for a very worthy charitable cause. Enjoy!
