Muddy Hands Pottery | Judy Griggs
Judy Griggs, of Muddy Hands Pottery, has always loved working with her hands—something both her mom and dad encouraged from the time she was young. That early influence stayed with her through every season of life, even as she built long, fulfilling careers. After 25 years in dental assisting and another 30 years in the health food industry, Judy finally found the time to explore a dream she’d carried for years: pottery.
She’s always been drawn to the beauty and simplicity of clay. There’s something grounding about the feel of it—something timeless about shaping a piece that echoes thousands of years of potters before her. Creating something both useful and beautiful still feels like magic every time she sits at the wheel.
Pottery quickly became more than a hobby; it became a joyful extension of who she is. Judy loves the quiet focus of the work, the creativity it invites, and the satisfaction of seeing a finished piece come out of the kiln with its own personality.
Just as meaningful to her is the chance to share what she’s learned. Judy loves teaching and treasures every opportunity to help others discover the same sense of wonder she found in clay. She is thankful that someone finds value in her creativity and chooses her handcrafted items.
