Instructor | Judy Griggs
Judy Griggs of Muddy Hands Pottery has always loved working with her hands — something both her mom and dad encouraged from the time she was young. That early influence stayed with her through every season of life, even as she built long and fulfilling careers. After 25 years in dental assisting and another 30 years in the health food industry, Judy finally found the time to explore a dream she had carried quietly for years: pottery.
She has always been drawn to the beauty and simplicity of clay. There is something grounding about the feel of it — something timeless about shaping a piece that connects her to thousands of years of potters who came before. Creating something both useful and beautiful still feels like a bit of magic every time she sits at the wheel.
Pottery quickly became more than a hobby; it became a joyful extension of who she is. Judy loves the quiet focus the work invites and the sense of curiosity that comes from experimenting with form, texture, and glaze. Each finished piece carries its own personality, shaped by both intention and discovery.
Just as meaningful to Judy is the opportunity to share what she has learned with others. She loves teaching and treasures every chance to help someone experience that same sense of wonder she discovered in clay. She is deeply grateful that others find value in her creativity and choose her handcrafted pieces for their homes and daily lives.
Through Muddy Hands Pottery, Judy hopes to encourage others to slow down, explore, and enjoy the simple satisfaction of creating something by hand.
